What is Reiki?

Reiki is a technique used to balance the energy in and around the body.  Since everything in our world, including us, is made of energy, Reiki can be an effective way to help prevent illness and disease as well as facilitate healing.

Reiki is based on the idea that the energy in and around our body determines our health. If the energy flows and is correctly balanced we are healthy, if the energy becomes stagnant or blocked it can create illness and disease.  A Reiki practitioner will help to balance the client’s energy field in order to help the energy flow properly to maintain or restore health.

Reiki in Hospitals and Medical Facilities

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) states that Reiki is safe technique and no side effects have been reported. Therefore Reiki is increasingly being used in hospitals and other medical centers in the United States as part of their Complementary and Alternative Medicine programs.

Benefits of Reiki

Reiki has many benefits for yourself and others.  Reiki can be used for relaxation/ stress reduction and to improve overall health and well-being. It is also used along with traditional medicine for those with anxiety, chronic pain, and immune related issues and those recovering from surgery or experiencing side effects from cancer treatments.  Reiki has also been used in hospice centers to help impart a sense of peace to patients and their families.

Reiki Training

Hypnosis Center of Virginia offers a Certified Reiki Practitioner program available for Nurses, Massage Therapists and those interested in helping others.
